The holidays are often called “the most wonderful time of the year,” but many people feel the opposite: stretched thin, overcommitted, and overwhelmed. Between family expectations, financial pressure, school events, and work deadlines, December can feel like a race. When life moves this fast, stress shows up in our bodies, emotions, and relationship with God: tension, irritability, exhaustion, and disconnection from the true meaning of Christmas. In the middle of my own busy season, I recently found a specific prayer while at my Bible study, and it spoke to me during this season of busyness. It reminded me that God cares not only about the “big” struggles, but also about our daily to-do lists. Instead of asking me to push through on my own strength, this prayer invited me to place my schedule, responsibilities, and expectations back into His hands. This prayer is paraphrased from the Bible study Beholding His Glory. I challenge you to recite this prayer over your holiday “to-do” lists this month and watch as the Holy Spirit reveals to you what’s truly important: Lord, today You see every task, responsibility, and need in front of me. You know what truly matters and what can wait. I place my to‑do list in Your hands and ask You to order my day. Show me what to release, what to simplify, and what to do with love instead of anxiety. Guard my heart from hurry and comparison, and let my work, whether seen or unseen, be an act of worship to You. Give me the grace to rest when You say rest and to act when You say go. Amen.
